AOL NOTES

The AOL browser is notorious for causing various display problems. If you see lines across the pictures or the photos appear grainy and low quality, the AOL browser is most likely the cause. There is something easy you can do to improve the quality of the graphics you view using the AOL browser.

Use the following procedure:

AOL 4

1. Look for the button at the top of the AOL window that says: "My AOL" and click it.

2. Click the selection: "Preferences"

3. Click the button within the Preferences window that says: "WWW".

4. Find: "Temporary Internet Files" and press the "Delete" button. At the next screen leave "Delete all subscription content" unchecked and select OK.

5. Select the tab that says "Web Graphics"

6. There is a checkbox that says "Use Compressed Graphics". Make sure this box is NOT checked. (When this box is checked, graphics will download quicker, but the quality of the images will be VERY poor and often have lines and other flaws).

7. Click "OK" to accept the changes and exit.

8. Press the "Reload" button on your browser to see the changes. Remember to "Reload" any pages you are re-visiting to load better images.

AOL 3

1. Look for the button at the top of the AOL Internet Browser that says: "Prefs". Click "Prefs"

2. Select the tab that says "Web Graphics"

3. There is a checkbox that says "Use Compressed Graphics". Make sure this box is NOT checked. (When this box is checked, graphics will download quicker, but the quality of the images will be VERY poor and often have lines and other flaws).

4. Click "OK" to accept the changes and exit.

5. Press the "Reload" button on your browser to see the changes. Remember to "Reload" any pages you are re-visiting to load better images.

Also make sure under the "Members" "Preferences" "Graphics" "Set Color Mode" that your colors are set to the maximum allowable by your computer.

Please be aware that there are other problems with AOL that can't be fixed by changing a simple setting. Ultimately, the best way to view the Internet is through an independent service provider that allows you standard access using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
